The Edmonton Burlesque Festival

The Edmonton Burlesque Festival is a not-for-profit four-day extravaganza celebrating all things burlesque, vaudeville and fabulous. It is aimed at the local, national and international theatre and arts community. The long weekend encompasses ingenues and impresarios, the avant-garde and outrageous, in a series of intimate showcase and feature events including workshops and competitions! In our mission, we bring in out-of-town headliners, hosts and several dozen performers together to celebrate our community. The spotlights of our festival are the Burlesque Bunny Competition and the Golden Beaver Award.

SEND IN THE GIRLS BURLESQUE

Made up of some of Edmonton's best indie theatre artists, Send in the Girls Burlesque is a collective concerned with matching the performance style of burlesque with the narrative of theatre to create burlesque that tells a story and goes a step above the usual bump and grind.

Founded in 2010 by Delia Barnett and Ellen Chorley, Send in the Girls Burlesque started off as the duo performing burlesque at a Nextfest nightclub. Delia taking on her alter ego, LeTabby Lexington, and Ellen transforming into Alabaster Albright.

Send in the Girls Burlesque was created to be a theatre company, that explores the relationship between burlesque and everything theatrical. Similar to writing a new play, each number the troupe performs is storyboarded, scripted, work shopped and revised before it is put in front of an audience. Character arc, message and theatricality are all given just as much consideration as what clothing comes off.

In addition to creating theatre, we also perform in revue shows, and can be hired to perform at special events or teach workshops.

Evolution Wonderlounge

I am so happy to work with the back bone of the Edmonton LGBTQ community Evolution Wonderlounge. I have the pleasure to perform there on a regular basis and they host all of my student showcases.

Evolution Wonderlounge exploded onto the Edmonton scene in September of 2013 to bring a bit of Vegas meets Circus to the Edmonton gay nightlife.
Evolution is not just a dance club and lounge, it's a way of thinking... we believe in this city and our community and are eager to make our mark on it. Our team brings experience and enthusiasm and fresh ideas, and we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service.
Come see what we're about, and come back often, as part of evolution is constant change.

House of Hush Burlesque
Burlesque Showgirls for Hire!
House of Hush Burlesque brings together some of Edmonton and Calgary's most popular burlesque performers, available to hire for your next Event, Party, Club, or Fundraiser! Our unique blend of theatrical live entertainment can be tailored to create a bespoke package for your event.
Our burlesque shows are an interactive experience that pull inspiration from the exaggerated theatrics of the very first burlesque performers (like Lydia Thompson and her "British Blondes"), the high-kicking showgirls of the Klondike Gold Rush, sideshow vaudeville strangeness, and the glamour and opulence of the golden age of jazz. If you're craving glittery costumes, glamour, can-can, wild abandon or gin-soaked revelry, you've come to the right place! Let our cheeky group of performers bring your event to the next level.

Vue Weekly's Blue Revue

Ever fancied yourself a bit of an amateur Ron Jeremy? Ready to make a leap from low-grade night vision sex tapes to the big leagues? Now entering it’s eighth consecutive year, Vue Weekly is proud to present Blue Revue: Dirty Movie Film Festival. As Canada’s only pornography-based film festival, we put out a yearly call asking for all would-be adult stars and local filmmakers to submit their own short film (less than five minutes), to be judged by festival attendees for one wild night in September. The winner of the competition, as determined by audience votes, walks away with $1000. First and second runner up will receive $500 and $250 respectively.

Akin to VUE WEEKLY, Blue Revue is all about free expression. So if you’re thinking this is the kind of festival where you WON’T see a film featuring two puppets discussing anal sex, you couldn’t be more wrong. Previous festivals have featured sexy g-g-g-ghosts, gay bears, a plethora of animated penises, horny penguins, glory holes, glow paint, and one oversized male nipple in addition to the more typical good ol’ fashioned pornography that you all know and love. In short, there is no need to go hardcore and creativity is certainly encouraged.

It’s best to keep it like a secret, all films will be destroyed at the end of the night and to date VUE WEEKLY has had zero leaks leading up to the event. Like a caring lover, your naked body parts are safe with us. All genders, sexual orientations and levels of competency with video equipment are encouraged to participate.
